Insurance & Financial Planning

Insurance and financial planning through independent, FCA-authorised partners

Business owners need commercial insurance, protection and financial planning that fits the business and the people in it. Fortis introduces you to independent, FCA-authorised brokers and planners we know and trust. We do not give regulated advice ourselves.

Two professionals in a meeting

Important: Fortis Business Advisory Limited is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and does not provide insurance, investment, pension, mortgage or other regulated financial advice. We introduce clients to independent firms that are authorised and regulated by the FCA. Any advice you receive is given by that firm under its own regulatory permissions, and your contract is with them. We may receive an introducer fee from a partner firm; where we do, this will be disclosed to you.

You probably need this if

  • Your commercial cover has renewed on autopilot for years.
  • There is no key person or shareholder protection in place.
  • Director pensions and business protection have never been looked at together.
  • You want a specialist, but one who starts with an accurate picture of the business.

What good looks like

  • A clear list of where cover or planning is missing against the business plan.
  • An introduction to an independent, FCA-authorised broker or planner who knows your sector.
  • Advice from a regulated firm that starts with accurate figures rather than guesses.
  • Insurance and planning joined up with your accountancy and growth work.

Who it is for

Business owners and directors who want their insurance and financial planning joined up with their business plan, and who would rather be introduced to a vetted specialist than search for one.

Why introductions rather than advice

Insurance and financial planning are regulated activities, and rightly so. Fortis is not FCA-authorised and does not pretend to be. What we can do is understand your business inside out through our accountancy and advisory work, identify where cover or planning is missing, and introduce you to an independent, FCA-authorised specialist who can advise you properly.

Areas our partners cover

Our partner firms are independent brokers and planners with whole-of-market access, chosen for their experience with owner-managed businesses.

  • Commercial combined, liability and professional indemnity insurance
  • Contractors' all risks and plant cover
  • Fleet and motor trade insurance
  • Key person, shareholder protection and relevant life cover
  • Workplace pensions and director pension planning
  • Business protection and succession planning

Joined up with your numbers

Because we often already hold your accounts, payroll and growth plan, the partner starts with an accurate picture of turnover, wage roll, assets and plans. That means more accurate quotes and advice that reflects where the business is going, not just where it is.

The margin bridge

Every pound removed from cost lands in profit.

Every pound removed from the middle bars lands in the last one.

Procurement works on the cost of sales. Restructuring works on overheads. The right cover, through FCA-authorised partners, stops a single event wiping out the year. Together they protect what is left.

How it works

  1. 01

    Gap review

We compare existing cover and planning against the business, its people and its plans.

  2. 02

    Consent

With your agreement we prepare a short briefing pack for the partner firm.

  3. 03

    Introduction

You are introduced to an independent, FCA-authorised firm. Any advice is theirs, under their permissions.

  4. 04

    Coordination

We stay in the loop so the outcome fits your accounts, payroll and growth plan.

Questions

No. Fortis Business Advisory Limited is not authorised or regulated by the FCA. We introduce you to independent firms that are, and they advise you under their own permissions.

Do you get paid for introductions?

In some cases a partner firm pays us an introducer fee. Where that applies we disclose it to you before the introduction is made. It never changes which firm we recommend.

No. The introduction is a recommendation. You are free to compare and to use any adviser you choose.

Want an introduction to the right specialist?

A thirty-minute conversation, no charge and no pitch. Tell us where the business is and where you want it to be, and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.
